A House Concert is simply a live musical performance hosted in someone’s home. It is the perfect way to experience amazingly talented independent artists in an up-close-and-personal setting. Here's an NPR story about house concerts and a Fresh Water Cleveland story about Mechanic Street House Concerts.
Mechanic Street House Concerts isn’t a business, and we don’t make any money from the performance. They are private, invitation only events. A donation is requested, 100% of which goes to the artists who have spent a lifetime of hard work honing their skills to provide the best possible entertainment for their audience.
What to Expect
Our concerts are non-smoking. There will be finger food. Feel free to bring your favorite beverage to share. There are usually two 40 minute sets, with chatting and chewing in between. Just come and plan on having a good time listening to great music, getting to know wonderful artists, and enjoying the company of new and old friends. Typically doors open at 7:30pm and the music starts at 8:00pm.
How to reserve a spot
RSVP by sending an email to mechanicstreetmusic@yahoo.com with your name and the names of up to three people who will be coming with you. If your group is larger than that, each person or couple should make their own reservation. Within 24 hours, we'll send you an email to confirm your seats. Then a day or two before the house concert, we'll send you an email with our address and other details.
What if I RSVP and then can't make it?
You'll never, ever get invited again! Kidding! Really, just kidding!
But please, consider your RSVP a firm commitment. Make sure everyone has it in their calendar, line up a babysitter, check out the artist's website, whatever else you do when planning a great evening out.
We know sometimes things happen to cause your plans to change. If so, please let us know as soon as possible that you won't be able to make it. It is increasingly common for us to reach capacity a few days beforehand and have a waiting list of those who would like to come. We don't want to turn anyone away unnecessarily, so please let us know -- even at the last moment. Especially since all of the money goes directly to the musicians, we don't want to have even one empty seat!
Why do I need to RSVP?
These are private events we are holding in our home. We need to know who and how many people are coming. This helps us determine how much food to prepare, how many seats we need to set up and the best arrangement of the space. It also is extremely helpful for the musicians to have a sense of the audience as they plan their performance.
Think you might like to come sometime?
